Brown Stew Chicken is a classic Jamaican dish that has been enjoyed for generations. It is believed that the dish originated in the early 1700s when African slaves were brought to Jamaica and had to make do with the ingredients available to them on the island. They combined African spices with local produce to create new and delicious dishes, including Brown Stew Chicken.

The recipe for Brown Stew Chicken is simple yet flavorful. Here is a classic recipe for four servings:

- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces

5. Add the tomatoes and scotch bonnet pepper (if using) and cook for a few minutes.
